Volunteers Needed
The Derry Soccer Club thrives on the good will of community volunteers. While coaches are often the most visible, there are many volunteers behind the scenes doing invaluable work on behalf of the Club, the teams, and the players. Click here for a list of roles and volunteers filling those positions.
The Derry Soccer Club is currently seeking new leadership in the following areas:
Treasurer
Shall collect, receive, disburse and record all DSC funds. Shall keep full and accurate accounts of receipts and disbursements. Shall deposit all monies in the name of DSC. Shall be authorized to sign all checks. Shall render to the Board an account of all transactions. Shall perform other duties as assigned. Responsible for maintaining and filing all necessary tax forms (with help from DSC President as needed).
Travel Program
Organizes, oversees, and keeps results of all evaluations. Approves, assigns and manages coaches. Responsible for coach’s training and licensing and routinely visits and/or oversees various team practices as needed. Works to resolve conflicts as they arise with parents, coaches and players. Is responsible for communication of DSC philosophy and Club direction to players and parents, especially prior to team placements. Along with the President, is the Club’s liaison with Parks and Rec. and the High School AD. Responsible for, along with Parks and Rec, maintaining fields and preparing fields for league play as well as Tournament play. Assists coaches and players with off-season play. Helps to provide opportunities for coach’s and players to receive “off season” training. Organizes training camps in conjunction with contracted trainers or other qualified entities. Works with the HS programs and helps with off-season play for HS boys and girls.
Player Development
Organizes player development program in conjunction with the President of the DSC. Assesses and evaluates trainers by observing sessions during the season. Works with Dir of Equipment to order soccer balls, shirts, training ladders, etc. as needed. Is a weekly hands-on position and also helps set up fields prior to sessions, as needed. Identifies coach’s and parent volunteers to work closely with contracted trainers to help as needed. Is responsible for communication and dissemination of information between trainers, coach’s, players and the Club.
Club Registrar
Responsible for organizing and maintaining registrations of all current DSC players. Works directly with the NHSA registrar as needed and is fully versed in the online “GotSoccer” program and functions for player and team registrations. Works with treasurer to ensure that all members have paid and are current and coordinates league fee payments. Collects and organizes all registration paperwork for each player in the club. Provides rosters and player passes for all regional and tournament play.
Communications
Responsible for disseminating information to the entire club, newspaper ads/ announcements, and local TV announcements. Creates and delivers flyers for Development program and evaluations. Provides content to the DSC website. Helps “spread the word” via the DSC website regarding DSC Club information and philosophy. Responsible for sending emails to the entire DSC database regarding any pertinent information at the time. Manages an annual survey program to the club membership and reports on results.
Facilities
Shall make sure that all soccer fields are ready for games (each weekend) and tournaments throughout the season. Parks and Rec department does the bulk of field maintenance, but there is maintenance that needs to be done to goal posts, nets, field lines and wet fields throughout the season and prior to tournaments and regional play. This position would work closely with the Dir of Travel Program as needed.
Fundraising
This person would be in charge of creating and organizing all fundraising activities for the club including sponsorships and grants. The primary fundraising activity is the annual DSC Soccer Ball, which is operated by committee.
Tournaments
Prepare coaches with listing of available tournaments and registration deadlines. Coordinates team registrations for tournaments, requests payments and validates reimbursements with Club treasurer. Tracks each teams tournament participation.
